UNCF - the
UnitedNegroCollegeFund – This is the nation’s
largest, oldest, and most successful minority higher education assistance organization. UNCF provides operating funds and technology enhancement
services for 39 member historically black colleges and universities, scholarships and internships for students at about 900 institutions, and
faculty and administrative professional training. One of the most well known African American scholarship programs that is available
today.
The UNCF has been around for over 65 years and has
raised more than $3 billion to help more than 350,000 students attend college and graduate from college. UNCF has distributed more funds to

The Ron Brown Scholar Program
is another program that has provided African American
students financial aid. The Ron Brown Scholarship mission is to accelerate the progress of all
African American students into some of the more profitable fields of business, while creating leadership and public service. Created in 2001,
the RBSP provides $40,000 ($10,000 per year for 4 years) that may be used at the college or university of their choice to accepted applicants.
Another major tenet of the Program is to create a strong family bond among Scholars and Program staff who provide a network of support and

Association for the Advancement of Colored
People (NAACP) Scholarship Program awards hundreds of scholarships each year. To be eligible, the
applicant must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and a 3.0 GPA for graduate students. Most have specific financial need guidelines as well. Some
scholarships require students to be members of the NAACP.
