One of the most stressful times in a parents life is when
the time comes to have to pay for their child education. This is one of the largest expenses one is going to face in their lives but it
doesn’t have to be. There are numerous college scholarships and grants available to those wanting to continue their
education.
Left Handed
Scholarships – This may seem like a strange scholarship program but many people are taking advantage of it. Probably the most well known
of all is the Frederick and Mary F Buckley Scholarship program. It was established in 1979.
African
American Scholarships - UNCF - the United Negro College
Fund - is the nation’s largest, oldest, and most successful minority higher education assistance
organization. UNCF provides operating funds and technology enhancement services for 39 member historically black colleges and universities,
scholarships and internships for students at about 900 institutions, and faculty and administrative professional
training.
Community Service Scholarships – The most well know of all community service scholarship programs is
the Presidential Freedom Scholarship - Each high school in the country may sponsor up to two students — juniors or
seniors — to receive a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of outstanding leadership in service to their community. In addition to the
scholarship, students will receive a letter of recognition, and a President's Volunteer Service Award pin.
Scholarships for
Hispanics - The Hispanic College Fund (HCF) is a non-profit
organization, separate from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, dedicated to developing the next generation of Hispanic professionals
in
America. This is probably the #1 source of scholarships for
Hispanics.
